This NEW SS-6 Storm Shield In-Ground Tornado shelter is designed around the occupancy of Six adults and provides you and your family with “Underground Protection”, the safest place during a storm.
All Storm Shield Tornado Shelters are designed in accordance with the "American National Standard" design criteria for underground storm shelters is adhered to.  That standard, called the ICC/NSSA Standard for Design and Construction of Storm Shelters [ICC 500-2014]. This standard was adopted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA] in their latest publications of FEMA 320 and FEMA 361 and governs the criteria for entry and stair width, rise and tread, hand rails, seating, occupancy space, ventilation and ground coverage. 
The SS-6 can be installed in 3 - 5 hours.
The unit comes with 2 each nominal 10' long 2" dia. schedule 40 steel pipes for anchoring.
Customer supplies two 3/4" x 4' x 8' sheets of Treated Plywood for adequate anchoring. Installation Instructions and drawing included.

This model is designed for EF-5 tornado and debris impact. It was tested as per the FEMA-320 for horizontal impact (15 lbs. 2 x 4 traveling over 67 mph)
