Only 3839 hexagon barrel .45-70 rifles were built during the B-78 1973-1982 production run.  This rifle is from 1976.

Pachmayr D752B Decelerator Old English recoil pad. If you are familiar with the B78, then you know the stock is built with a very unique 1880's style, heavily-curved shoulder stock profile. You don't just buy a recoil pad and screw it on. They are professionally fitted and installed after the sale. This one is very nicely done, as seen in the pics.

Magna-ported barrel.  Takes the heavy recoil out without losing any of the power of a .45-70.

There are no defects in the wood or metal. Everything works nice and smooth. It is a great rifle, but I finally found a Ruger falling block in .45-70 so I completed my Ruger collection.  It is 50 years old, so it is not perfect, but is very nice still.  No rust on the rifle. No cracks in the wood. The bore is mirror-bright. No bore pitting. Iron sights are still on it because that is how I hunt; however, I do have blocks and rings for it (included) if you wanted to scope it. 24" barrel. Factory owner manual included.

  $900 cash.

*** The only trade considered would be a Winchester 9417 HMR.***
