This is a USGI M1 Carbine, made by the Inland Division of General Motors for the World War II effort in 1944. The receiver was probably made in April of 1944, and the barrel is an Inland barrel dated 3-44, so it is most likely that it is original to the carbine.
This was an Interarms import from a few years ago. I recently acquired a better example of an Inland carbine, so I'm letting this one go.
The overall metal finish is not great. There is some pitting on the receiver and metal parts below the woodline, a little bit around the receiver ring, and some on the barrel just in front of the bayonet lug. There is very little parkerizing left, but there is no rust and everything is very solid. The slide and bolt are in very good condition. The bore and muzzle are in great condition. I've included a picture of the worst pitting on the barrel.
The stock has some dents and dings and minor scratches. There is one crack that was repaired with a couple of staples on the right side of the toe (shown in picture). The butt plate on the stock appears to be in new condition, so it's most likely a commercial replacement.
The rifle includes a modern reproduction magazine. I took it out and shot it some and it functioned great. I guarantee this rifle will function as it should - I can't comment on accuracy because I'm a lousy shot.
I can provide more pictures via text if you're intersted.
I routinely travel to Paducah, Mayfield, Murray, Hopkinsville and Madisonville and am willing to meet you if you are interested.
I'm not interested in any trades right now.
$1,350 OBO - This includes the rifle and one magazine. Don't hesitate to make an offer - the worst I'll do is say no thank you. You must be a KY resident, legal to own firearms, and be willing to present identification and sign a bill of sale.
I can be reached via phone or text at (270) 625-9865. If I don’t answer and you leave a message, I will return your call. No calls after 9 PM, please.
Thanks for looking.
